A GPS that can track where you are, a microphone that can track what you say, and high enough usage from the average person (3 hours 45 minutes per day) to essentially track the thoughts, mood, and actions, all neatly tied to various accounts that can identify them.
The smartphone is the ultimate tracking device for any nation state to use to monitor its population. I'm surprised they even bother with other forms of surveillance at this point.
In most countries sim cards are already tied to your identity. Your identity is also known by your ISP.
Do you really think a state actor needs anything else to track you already? We gave up privacy when we all accepted to carry a telescreen in our pockets. Now with palantir, flock, amazon door cameras, &c. there is nowhere to hide, don't blame the government when we sold our souls willingly. The truth is that 99% of people don't give a shit
AFA first phone of any recent generation goes its largely a done deal. Yet the more they heap on the more the burner phones are going stand out from phones of seniors, barely socially engaged people, etc.
We didn't do it willingly. We were deliberately misled and deceived and now we are going to be forced to use these things (Digital ID etc).
Most people don't have phones to be tracked, they have them for their other features. Even door cameras are sold on the basis of personal security not public surveillance.
